You wander but you are not lost.

Dear 20 Somethin'...

This was the year you were supposed to be engaged; that way you could be married and have kids at 27 like you'd planned. Oh, and don't forget you were supposed to be in New York working for Essence magazine or Teen Vogue by now, own property in Atlanta so you could rent out to people whilst making your way in the Big Apple. By now, you're supposed to be sending your parents on vacation, helping to invest in your little brother, all'dat.

Well girl, NONE OF THAT SHIT HAS HAPPENED.

And it's ok. Oprah got fired as a news anchor in her 20s, Taraji didn't hop on a bus to Hollywood until she was 26 (with her son on her hip), Steve Harvey lived out his car in his 20s...wait, or was it his 30s??? (Listen, I can bare with you through the 20s but we not finna go through this in our 30s, k?)

Anywho, wait your turn sis. God got a hearty guffaw at your plans and it's because what he has in store for you is something far beyond that wild imagination of yours, but here's the real tea...will you be ready?

You're wondering why you've hit 20 something and things haven't gone as planned, but have you ever considered that maybe you just weren't ready? If God sat all of the opportunities and blessings you've ever wanted before you right now would you be prepared?

Ok, so with that being said, instead of watching the clock, focus on getting ready because it's coming! So what's the next step?

Ok, so am I the only one that imagined they'd be living a T-totally different life in their 20's than they actually are? I can't be the only one. Enough of my rant though, SZA had me in my feelings and I had to let it out. I really think putting myself on a timeline and comparing myself to others has been self sabotage in a way and I have to snap out of that. If you catch yourself doing the same, I challenge you to refocus your energy. When you get in a mode where you're comparing your journey to someone else's, it means you're not busy enough. Go find something to do that will make you more prepared for that big blessing when it gets here, ok boo?!

Anywho, enjoy photos below of me wandering but knowing exactly where I am, shot my friend Will Smith (no, not that Will Smith...I wish lol).
