A Summer Storm

With in the span of a month, I've had a total of four hairstyles lol. In case you haven't noticed I am not only scissor happy but I love switching things up. I finally got the courage to face my coils, tame them and parade them around my new home, the Big Apple.

I recently washed and conditioned my hair and to my dismay, I ended up detangling knots for three hours, yes, I listened to RIhanna's Anti three consecutive times whilst cursing at the mirror because I couldn't comb through my hair, ugh! Can you say, TRESSful? Peep the play on words, haha. The center of my hair had grown past my nose; however, the majority of my hair still had chemical in it which made it harder for my hair to hold it's curls.

Ya' girl has never been fearful of a pair of scissors, so you know what I did, I had to cut itttttt (dabs)! I then applied coconut oil to my wet tresses, next I parted my hair into sections and applied Cantu's Shae Butter Coconut Curling Creme and finger coiled each strand. Once my curls were defined, I decided to spruce things up! I am obsessed with the silver hair trend, but after going through the process of clipping already damaged ends, bleaching my hair to obtain that effect would defeat the purpose. My healthy/effective alternative to obtain this chic look: spray color.

To obtain the color you see, I used absolutely no hair bleach or dyes; I instead used Jerome Russel's 'Tempry' hairspray in silver for only $4 at the beauty supply. I was a bit hesitant because my hair is jet black, so I didn't think the color would show but as you can see it did. I chose to apply the spray to my tips because I wanted an ombre effect. I would love to see how creative you guys can get with this healthy, yet fun alternative to hair dye. If you should decide to switch things up with spray color tag ya' girl on Instagram!

This is the perfect alternative for those who just want to experiment with hair color and avoid the awkward stares in the office. You can be Storm Friday through Sunday and be Michelle Obama come Monday, thank me later.

The spray color should last two weeks max without washing it out, so if you prefer something more long-term this may not be the best option for you.

Enjoy the photos below of me feelin' myself after sprucing my 'do and go ahead and let me know what colors you want to try in the comments.

Wait! Before you go, I forgot to tell you the most important step to achieving this look. After applying the hairspspray, I grabbed my phone, found great lighting and snapped a selfie. I then sent it to best friend fo'eva and she replied, "yessssss Storm!" and those two words gave me more than enough confidence to rock my silver coils FEARLESSLY. And if you have no bestie to text, no worries, look in the mirror before you leave the house and say "yessssssssss" to yourself and if you're still not convinced tag me in the photo and I'll do it for you!
