Ok ladies, now let's get in formation.
A few Sundays ago I encountered a life changing experience. I awoke with unruly hair and a hangover. I had plans of avoiding all social media outlets that day so I wouldn’t become jealous of everyone attending the Formation tour. Little did I know, God had other plans for me.I jokingly asked my mom for money to buy tickets the day of and what do you know; she bought two! One for myself and one for my sister.
Fast-forward: I’m sitting in my bleacher just a few feet from the stage. From our seats we can also see backstage. The lights are now dim and the crowd is at attention. With my very own eyes I see a tall, curvy, caramel-complexioned woman with an oversized hat, doing squats. Yes, Beyonce does squats before she hits the stage!
If Beyonce can make time to do squats before she slays on stage, we too can make time to take care of our own bodies--Beyonce is way more than just body goals though; she is career goals! Beyonce didn’t get deemed ‘the baddest chick in the game’ or ‘Queen Bey’ by coincidence; she literally goes the extra mile to be the best at what she does. How can she sing and dance at the same d**n time with such precision? Well, she gets her perfectly round butt up everyday and runs 16 miles. No doubt, Beyonce is a mega star, however she would not have such an impeccable body of work without a dope team.
Many people discredit Ms.Carter and Drake even, for not writing their own music but it takes a true artist to know their strong and weak points and it takes an artistic genius to know when to collaborate with people who can incorporate the things they lack themselves in order to create something phenomenal.
Say what you want about Beyonce and Drake; you can’t deny their talent nor can you say their body of work is anything short of amazing and influential. With a well composed team of videographers, photographers, writers, creative directors, stylists, etc. Beyonce co-created an exceptional work of art titled, Lemonade. This body of work alone inspired a number of think pieces, dialog about the trials black women face, photos/artwork, etc.
A lot of times people are hesitant to collab with others or ask for help because they want all of the creditor fear rejection from more established creatives.
Here’s the thing, a lot of times creatives conjure up grandiose ideas, and while God has certainly blessed us with a vision, vision alone won’t bring it to fruition. It’s impossible to give 100% effort to multiple tasks which is why having a team that can pick up for the percentage you can’t contribute to a masterpiece is imperative to gain success.
With work ethic, undeniable talent, a bomb ass body and even more bomb team, Baddie Bey has indeed reached icon status and we can too!
Don’t be lazy, don’t be discouraged, don’t be pessimistic...BE YONCE!
I know it seems like I’m worshiping the ground she walks on---absolutely not, the only being I worship is God; however Beyonce’s work ethic and game plan is certainly the blueprint for success in the creative industry.
Put your best foot forward and go create your own “Lemonade” with a group of people just as willing to put their best foot forward too.
