First and foremost, I apologize for being so late with this post. As we all know, life is unpredictable, this week has been super crazy and busy for me but that is no excuse; when I give my word I should be expected to keep it so I apologize.
Lucky for me I was able to get a shoot done this past weekend with one of my best friends. She recently moved back to Atlanta after living in Orlando for two years at a job that drained her emotionally and she had no passion for. Being the go-getter she is, she decided not to feel sorry for herself and changed her situation. After a treacherous job search my boo found a job here in Atlanta that she absolutely loves and she's certainly inspired me. If you don't like your situation, what ever it may be, create a game plan and execute it and repeat those steps until you get the results you want.
The past few weeks we'd been meaning to have a best friend outing but our schedules never correlate, especially since she works a big girl job and I am currently a slave to retail (working to save for a major life change, details coming soon) lol. We could have went shopping, headed to brunch or gotten our nails done, because LORD KNOWS these feet need some attention; however we decided to create content instead. We headed to Midtown and came across this gorgeous flower shop, Le Jardin Francais. The decor was minimal yet intricate. The owners, who also designed the flower shop were so nice and gave us the ok to snap some pics in their establishment.
To my readers, I strongly encourage you to surround yourselves with like minded individuals. Keep people in your circle who are not only supportive of you but have goals and standards that they are aiming for themselves, I promise you that seeing other people's success will serve as motivation to do the same. All of my besties aren't creatives; however, they are all go-getters and goal oriented. Of course me and my girls gossip err now n' then, vent about relationships, crack jokes and talk for hours about makeup but the majority of our conversations involve careers or discussions about personal and spiritual growth.
In addition to the inspiration and motivation you gain from having a focused circle, you are also more apt to gain career opportunities. We've all heard the saying, "It's not what you know, it's who you know" and it's so true. One of my best friends has worked her ass off in the music industry since college and she is finally a manager at one of Atlanta's top studios and for DJ Drama and DJ Canon's new record label. Because she knows my work ethic and knows that I am passionate and a talented writer, I was the first person she referred them to for writing projects. It helps to know people and high places and if those people are apart of your squad it could get you even further.
Ok, so I'm done rambling about how amazing my friends are. Take the time to evaluate where you see your self in five years, then evaluate which friends you see along the ride with you. Do they have their own goals they're actively working towards? Are your conversations productive? Do they inspire you, motivate you and support you? If the answer to the last question is no, next time they text you hit them with the "New mindset, who dis?".
