Adventures With My Seester

My Monday morning started off great. I headed to the Lavazza on Peachtree (the coffee company I do PR for) and did something I enjoy doing, taking pictures. I’m currently in charge of their social media, so they wanted me to take a few images for both Instagram and our website. I got to show off my flatlay skills and practice with a few of the settings on my camera. While on the job I even got to taste some coffee and once you have Italian coffee, you will never want Starbucks again. Enough of the brief advertisement though, lol.

When I left work I had plans of heading to Five Points, propping up my tripod and taking some photos for my blog against the artsy walls. This is what I had planned, but here’s what happened. I headed to Little Five Points, trekked through a park for about five minutes, found a wall that kinda sorta complimented my outfit, went to prop up my tripod and found that I left the most important piece to it at home, smh. The piece that connects my camera to my tripod was MIA, so I was over it. At this point I’m thinking of driving all the way home, just to come back and take pictures, then I thought about gas prices and said “hell nah!”.

After having a whirlwind of pessimistic thoughts I hit up my little sister who stays in a dorm not too far from Little Five, she made a deal with me that she’d take pictures of me if I took pictures of her at this nature spot she’s been begging me to go too. I meet up with her and we headed there via the train. As if my day wasn’t annoying enough, this little girl had us get off at the wrong stop and if you know me, you know I was OVER IT because we then had to walk for about 15 minutes.

However the walk was pretty fun, minus the part where I nagged her about us getting off at the wrong stop lol but once we got to the nature spot it was worth it. We ended up going to this neighborhood atop a hill in the Edgewood/Inman Park area. The community grows their own food, live sustainably and promotes love and peace. It’s basically a hippie’s playground, minus the part where you can’t smoke weed.

On our venture we saw beautiful landscapes, a lake where an emu was nearby...yikes! I swear I felt like at some point the emu was going to fly out of the cage...I know emu’s don’t fly but I don’t put anything past anyone lol. After my sister fawned over the turtles at the lake we decided to sit down, talk about school, life etc. up until a squad of chickens started walking towards us. I dipped, D’maia was chillin’ and laughin’ like she’s used to seeing her Popeyes meal just roll up on her like that.

After we toured the community we stopped in this cute deli for some drinks. I forget the name of it but it was filled with vintage Cocacola artifacts. We chilled in the deli drank and laughed about the memories we’d just created. Just when I was about to give up, the little sister who I am always trying to teach taught me that sometimes Plan B can turn out better than your original plan.

Dear D’maia, I know you don’t read blogs but should you read this thank you for always finding a way to take me out of negative spaces. Thank you for always telling me to calm down, think and find positive alternatives, thank you for believing in me, thank you and I love you and I want my plant that you stole from me back.

I hope you enjoyed this post, outfit deets will be placed in the caption of my pictures.

XoXo
