Hey baes! I hope your week has been amazing and I hope you've been making your circumstances WERK for you! As we build this cyber relationship, I would like to be 100% honest with you...I worked all day today and yesterday and I'm tired as hell!

I say this to say, I am taking my own advice while I may go home from work tired I will not allow it to have me uninspired; however, this post may be a little short cuz Slayesha needs her rest lol.

Let's get straight to it...more than likely your passion isn't paying your bills RIGHT NOW and more than likely the title that does pay your bills often has you second guessing yourself. Just know that thre are so many greats, so many bosses, so many moguls that weren't born with those titles, but trust, the most successful ones have always known their worth.Do you really think when Jay-Z started off in the rap game and record execs, producers etc. asked him "What do you do?" and he said "I slang dope."??? I mean, maybe he did but that certainly isn't the answer that got his foot in the door, even when Jay-Z was doing what he had to do to get by, he knew then he was worth billions.

I don't care if you make a living picking up dog poo at the park and your passion is producing music; while picking up dog shit you need to be thinking, I am THE SHIT and I don't aspire to be a producer but I AM a producer. Your job title does not define nor confine you and the longer you allow yourself to think it does, the longer you'll be holding yourself back from becoming the you that you aspire to be.

When you're out networking and people ask you, "So, what do you do?" own your shit! If you are a bartender from nine-to-five and an author from five-to-nine because all you can think about from nine-to-five is what you're going to write about when you get off, respond, "I am an author." You are what you are passionate about, you are what you dedicate your time, efforts and talents to...that is what defines you and if you don't own it you will continuously block your blessings.

For instance, while covering New York Fashion Week last year I met the editor of Lapalme magazine and celebrity stylist Shannon Marie, when asked what I did I could have told them I worked as "security" at the front desk of my school's library but they probably would have laughed because I clearly can't "secure" anything and it wouldn't have lead to me becoming a contributing writer for Lapalme magazine and scoring an interview with Shannon Marie.

Don't stand in your own way by being bashful, shy and thinking you're undeserving of something that is already destined for you. Own your shit honey! Yes, the majority of my coins come from being a sales associate but the rest come from doing things I love such as writing and brand strategizing and I am able to profit from my passion because I owned my shit.

Speak your dreams into existance and if you aspire to be a BAWSE, know that you already are one.

I hope this You Betta Werk post was of some help to you.

If you don't like who you work for, find a way to make it work for you! In the meantime, YOU BETTA WERK BOO!

-XoXo
