If you can't tell by the title, I've had Erykah Badu's viral single, "Phone Down," on repeat since Christmas. The hook is simple, certainly nothing profound (at surface) about, "I can make ya, I can make ya, I can make ya put ya phone down;" but the relevance behind this song has me hooked, in addition to this trap'esque beat...did Erykah Badu link up with Metro Boomin? (serious question lol)
One Sunday, the schedule Gods were in my favor and I was able to spend my Sunday off with the bombest people I know, my bestfriends ofcourse. Being the foodies/drunkies that we are we said, "Let's do brunch!" and headed to West Egg in Midtown, Atlanta.
The music was mellow, low enough for guests to enjoy in-depth conversation with out saying, "huh?" or "What was that I couldn't hear you?," and all we could seem to do was check our phones. Betwixt Snapchaat, Instagram and Faceb- you know what, I'm not gonna flex like our generation even uses that lol, however, you get the point-betwixt all of these apps you can be in a room, inches away from people you love and still be disconnected.
The divide by technology didn't last long though, after finally being seated and turning the lobby into a photo studio we caught up on work, life...men ofcourse, gossiped over margaritas and discussed fears, life goals, edges etc.
While playing with my camera and ocassionaly annoying my friends, I thought, "Damn I love these bitches and damn this food is good and damn I should workout tomorrow."-I did not.
As for the food, can you say BOMB(DOT)COM? I normally eat the George Bendict at West Egg, but this time I was blessed with their creamy grits, delicious sausage and the diced potatoes-lordt, my tastebuds caught the holy ghost.
